Document Transmittals in TDOC take the form of a distribution list and are used to identify information being sent to the recipient. Document transmittal, includes the name, contact number and address of the sending and receiving parties. The sender of Document Transmittals from TDOC may also include a message, request for acknowledgement (which can be automated) or instructions. It is also important to include the names of other parties the information is being sent to on the document transmittal.

In addition to the above, the document transmittal details the type and size of document along with the format in which it was issued. More importantly the document transmittal indicates the reason for issue and the version of each document. Clerical and reprographic costs are reduced as the document transmittal id heavily automated and actual drawings to not need to me issued if unchanged rather that given a different status. Therefore the document transmittal can merely indicate the change in document status. This can cut the whole process of document transmittal down to a few minutes from several days.

The document transmittal function in TDOC can work with hard copy documents as well as electronic. There is no need to split up document transmittals that have large electronic file attachments as TDOC will email the Document transmittal with a simple link to FTP the attachments.
